About Ear Surgery
At Inspire Cosmetic Surgery & Med Spa, our board-certified plastic surgeons transform the shape and size of a patient's ears with compassionate care. Young children and adults alike can improve the appearance of their ears and facial profile with otoplasty. You (and your minor child) can have a private consultation in our Delray Beach, FL office. Otoplasty can be performed on children as young as 5-years-of-age and can also be performed on older patients for cosmetic or reconstructive benefits. Our skilled and specialty trained plastic surgeons perform otoplasty procedures in our accredited in-office surgery suite on an outpatient basis. The "pinning back" of the ears is most common for ear surgeries at our practice. However, we also provide surgical procedures for correction of deformities from traumatic injuries, earlobe tears, elongated earlobes, and more.
"What an amazing team!! Dr. Goodwin, Kathy and Angela made a very stressful life event involving my double mastectomy and reconstruction turn from a nightmare into a dream. Very supportive with great bedside manner. This truly talented surgeon has your best interests in mind always."- H.V. / Yelp / Feb 05, 2019
"Dr. Drew Schnitt could not have been better! He was upfront and thorough about my procedure before and after. The results are exactly what I was hoping for. I couldn't be happier. I can't thank Vanessa enough for constantly being on call to answer my questions and concerns throughout my healing process. There was never a time that she would not answer within an hour, even when she was not working. She made the experience a million times easier for me. I can't say better things about Inspire, and I will be a long time client. I will be recommending Dr. Drew & the Inspire team to all my friends."- C.F. / Yelp / Feb 08, 2020
"I have been seeing Dr. Matthew Goodwin for breast reconstruction post-mastectomies. His office staff have always treated me respectfully and responded well to my questions and concerns. The initial surgery for expanders and subsequent reconstruction one year ago both went well. I am very pleased with the results and have received many compliments about my "foobs," including those from other doctors I routinely see. It is scary to receive a diagnosis of breast cancer but Dr. Goodwin's office helped allay many of my fears. I have already recommended other women to his practice and will continue to do so."- S.S. / Yelp / Jan 11, 2020
"I've only ever been here for botox but today I had my earlobes worked on by Dr.Schnitt! I used to gauge my ears in my teenage years and it's been a major regret in my adult years lol! I'm SO happy with how they look already. What I also love is that they let you choose your Pandora station, so I had the Bob Marley station on love this place! Staff is always so nice."- K.B. / Yelp / Jan 10, 2020
"Amazing Experience in an Emergency and After - Dr. Jack consulted with my family about scarring from tracheotomy when they had to decide to move me from intubation to a trach. Shd assured them she could fix it. She did the revision and no one notices it now even though it’s in the center of my neck."- C. / RealSelf / Dec 16, 2019
Otoplasty patients should be at least 5-years-old and have one of the following concerns:
- Ears that protrude or stick out from the head
- Ears that are misshapen from a trauma or congenital defect
- Ears that are disproportionately large compared to the head
- Earlobes that are torn or elongated
What to Expect
Otoplasty reshapes the ears by making small incisions behind the ear to expose the cartilage. The cartilage is then removed and reshaped until the ear reaches the desired size and shape. Any excess skin is removed from the ear and in some cases the ears will be repositioned closer to the head. The technique to treat protrusion (ears that stick out from the head) is commonly referred to as the "pinning back" of the ears. The overall goal of otoplasty is to give patients natural-looking ears and to restore their self-confidence.
Patients can expect swelling and bruising after undergoing otoplasty. However, this will subside after the first couple of weeks of recovery. An elastic headband is usually worn for the first several weeks after surgery to keep the ears in their new position and patients are advised to avoid strenuous work for approximately 1 – 2 months after their surgery. Children who have otoplasty will need to be closely monitored throughout the healing process, so they do not compromise the healing of their ears or cause agitation by rubbing or scratching.

Improve Your Ears
Otoplasty can help patients, especially children, enjoy the way they look and restore their confidence and happiness. Having misshapen or excessively large ears can cause unwanted attention and teasing that can affect self esteem. We encourage anyone who is looking into otoplasty for themselves or their children to schedule a consultation at Inspire Aesthetics. It is our goal to help you feel good about your appearance.
