About Laser Skin Resurfacing
Deeper wrinkles, skin laxity and discoloration are impossible to treat with average, over-the-counter skincare. At Inspire Cosmetic Surgery & Med Spa in Delray Beach, FL we offer deep laser skin resurfacing with the AcuPulse™ CO2 Laser to address deep wrinkles, scars, finer lines around the eyes and mouth, and discoloration. Our board-certified plastic surgeons use laser skin resurfacing on the face, neck, and hands for patients that qualify. The heat from this laser technology will focus layer-by-layer on eliminating the imperfections at each treatment session. At your treatment planning session with one of our trusted plastic surgeons, we will discuss how many sessions it will take to achieve your desired result. Other nonsurgical treatments may be recommended as laser skin resurfacing works well with other aesthetic treatments or as a compliment to a previous plastic surgery.
"What an amazing team!! Dr. Goodwin, Kathy and Angela made a very stressful life event involving my double mastectomy and reconstruction turn from a nightmare into a dream. Very supportive with great bedside manner. This truly talented surgeon has your best interests in mind always."- H.V. / Yelp / Feb 05, 2019
"I cannot wait to have them repierced - It was a pleasure to have Dr. Megan Jack take care of my horribly thinning earlobes. I needed to completely have her rebuild my earlobes because recently a stud earring with the back fell through my original piercing. The other piercings had deteriorated so both earlobes were done. Dr Jack is very professional but extremely caring. Now that the lobes are fixed I can not wait to have them re pierced. Dr.Jack will be able to do that in about 5 weeks. My new earlobes look amazing.ESL"- E. / RealSelf / Nov 23, 2019
"Dr Drew and the Team Are Exceptional - After my consultation with Dr Drew I knew he was going to be the surgeon to do my breast augmentation. The place is beautiful and so clean. All the girls that work there are so pretty and sweet and make you feel right at home . My surgery went so well and I am 10000% satisfied with my results . I wanted to go big around 600cc and that is excactly what the doctor gave me. 605cc hp under the muscle . Recovery was quick , I was off pain meds after 2 days. I am currently 10days post op, feeling great and the girls are amazing I’m so in love."- M. / RealSelf / Nov 18, 2019
"Let me start off by saying that Inspire is amazing! I had went to two other consultations for my Breast augmentation before Dr.Drew. I knew as soon as he was done going over all the information i would choose him. He was very thorough and listened to all my concerns and answered every question. He made me feel extremely comfortable. If i ever needed anything additional answered, Kamy the best patient care coordinator was one text away and checked in with me before surgery and right after! The procedure, to me was a pretty easy recovery. Pain was minimal. I was able to get EXPEREL, they will recommend and I will tell you that my pain on a scale from 1-10 was probably a 4 at most. 10/10 would recommend!! All in all this place is awesome, looks beautiful and their team is best! I am on week 5 post op and my boobies look and feel amazing! SOOO SOOO HAPPY with the results."- A.B. / Yelp / Nov 05, 2019
"I researched and consulted with several cosmetic surgeons before I chose Dr. Matthew Goodwin to perform my breast reduction surgery. First impression was that his office is beautiful and clean. He has an amazing bed side manner, and is extremely knowledgeable in his field. Not only is he an outstanding surgeon but his entire staff is compassionate and professional. Everyone made me extremely comfortable from start to finish. And the results? Still healing but in my opinion, Dr. Goodwin is the one to choose! I am so grateful to him and his staff for everything they have done for me!"- C.L. / Yelp / Oct 23, 2019
What to Expect
During laser skin resurfacing, the doctor will aim brief, pulsating beams of light with the AcuPulse Laser to the damaged skin. The AcuPulse Laser will ultimately destroy the unwanted skin layer by layer. The depth depends on the patient’s particular condition and needs. The laser beam removes the outer layer of skin, which is known as the epidermis. At the same time, the laser is heating the dermis, the layer underneath, which stimulates the growth of collagen. Once the damaged layers of skin are destroyed, it will begin to crust, flake, and peel away over the course of several weeks. Once this process is complete, new skin will appear in its place that’s healthier, brighter, younger looking, and more even-toned.
Even though laser skin resurfacing is nonsurgical and is considered noninvasive, there generally is some downtime associated with the procedure depending on the level of aggression. To ease any discomfort during treatment, our practitioner may choose to numb the skin using a local anesthetic. A sedative can also be given to relax the patient. If the whole face is being treated or if other procedures are being done in conjunction with resurfacing, a local anesthesia will be given. The doctor will place the laser in the treatment area for a short amount of time and repeats this process until all of the damaged skin has been treated. After the ablative procedure, the treated skin will appear swollen, itchy and raw. It’s possible for these areas to discharge a yellowish liquid. A doctor will apply a thick, protective ointment and cover the area with an airtight, watertight dressing to protect the treated skin. During recovery, the treated area will need to be kept clean and protected. Crusting can also occur, so the patient must refrain from picking since this can lead to permanent scarring. The new skin is usually generated in about 1 – 2 weeks. With non-ablation, a patient can expect swelling and redness which can be remedied with ice packs.
